More from "Pain, Perplexity and Promotion"

Bob Sorge from his book on Job, "Pain, Perplexity and Promotion":

"When we look at Job at the beginning of the book, we find a man who was upright, holy, and blameless. But we also find a man who was deeply frustrated...at his inability to impart his passion for God on to his kids...Job was personally blameless, but his couldn't impart his faith to his children. The book of Job tells the story of what happened when God decided to visit Job and transform his fathering paradigm - i.e., Job's formulated framework and automatic assumptions that drove and directed his mode and style of fathering...

"By the time he emerged from the crucible, Job was much more accurate in spiritual warfare. The spiritual attacks on his household still came but he was equipped to do warfare on behalf of his children in a much more effectual way, helping them to walk toward their highest inheritance...

"Job's story illustrates a powerful scriptural principle: When God targets a generation, He starts by preparing the generation before. To raise up a chosen generation, God prepares the fathers and mothers...one of the foremost qualities of spiritual fatherhood: Spiritual fathers bequest to the next generation an example and pattern which enables the next generation to cooperate with the shaping processes of God."

Dear Holy Spirit, give us eyes to see what You are doing in us as natural parents and spiritual parents so that we can impart a "yes!" to You into our children. Thank You for the painful but good work You are doing to change our paradigm of parenting the next generations. Would you complete Your good work in us and use us to partner with You in raising up a prophetic generation to usher in Your return. We bow to You in submission and awe of what You are doing in the earth today, and we say "yes!" to You and Your skillful dealings with us Your people.
